Should you Choose Direct TV or Dish Network?

If you are going to upgrade you home entertainment system to satellite TV then there are a few things you need to consider. There are many different choices and options available to you, which is why the price for satellite is so reasonable these days. The hard decision isn’t switching over from cable to satellite, but which satellite TV provider you should go with. There are two big names that come to mind for most of us including Direct TV and Dish Network.

When you do some research on these two companies you will see that they have different programming options, so one may be better for you than the other based on their package set up or the programming they have to offer. With research you will also notice that there is a slight difference in the price of each company’s service. There is no set price so the only way to know which company has the better offer in your area at this time is to look into it your self. Don’t go with the first provider that you speak with, shop around. After all you are going to be paying on it month after month, why not get the best deal?

Price is generally the determining factor for most of us, so spend some time looking around at not only different companies but different providers as well. You may be surprised at what you find out. There are always specials and incentives going on in the satellite industry because competition is so high.

Start out by determining which type of service and programming options you want, then compare the different company’s packages. Generally Dish Network charges less for their programming packages, but offer their customers less expensive, advanced equipment. Direct TV tends to have higher priced services, but are constantly running specials and offering incentives to make the industry more competitive.

You will also notice that both of the satellite TV companies are offering similar programming packages and options. One company’s package may have a few more than the other company’s, but they general selection will pretty much be the same. You may also get some type of digital video recorder (DVR) which allows you to watch TV in a whole new way. With a DVR you are able to digitally record and store all of your favorite TV shows and movies. You can also pause, stop, and play, rewind, or fast-forward live or recorded shows!

With Direct TV you get to choose from three different programming packages but there are many variations that include HDTV and DVR ability. With Direct TV you can start off with the Total Choice package which includes 140 channels. The highest level package you can get with Direct TV includes over 250 channels and is known as the Total Choice Premier package. The types of channels you will get access to include many popular options such as CNN, Comedy Central, ESPN, Cartoon Network, CBS, and MTV.
