Personalized to You:
First, you take a fitness test so the game knows your current fitness level. Then, you tell the game what you’re trying to achieve (slimming your stomach, strengthening your arms, etc.). Based on that, the game designs a program specifically for you based on your fitness level, goals and schedule.

  • Constant Guidance to Ensure You’re Doing the Exercises Correctly
The camera projects your image onto your TV next to your in-game workout buddy, Jenny McCarthy. Jenny is in the game, motivating you and coaching you to success. The camera tracks your movements so Jenny can tell you what you’re doing right and correct any mistakes. That way you know you’re not wasting time.

  • Exercise Controller-Free
The camera sees you, so it works without requiring any additional hardware, leaving your hands free to focus on the exercises.

  • Fun and Motivational
Jenny McCarthy is your workout buddy--always by your side, entertaining and inspiring you. As you exercise, the game regularly displays how many calories you’re burning and your accuracy percentage so you can always strive to beat your high score!

  • More Exercises Than Any Other Game
More than 400 exercises ensure that your routine is working to meet your goals. Plus, you’ll never do the same workout twice

  • Compatible With Your Own Fitness Equipment
The game works without requiring any extra equipment, but if you have free weights, a balance ball, a step bench and/or a heart rate monitor, Jenny will include them in your personalized routine

  • Challenge Yourself
Test your fitness level with the physical challenge, a test designed as a check-in for you to see how much your fitness level has improved. Take it any time!

Game is a step above previous fitness games

    Review Date: November 26, 2009
    Reviewer: Mindy,
I actually own most of the fitness games that are available, including Yourself Fitness! (which I really liked when it was the first of its kind).

This game is a step above that game. I believe it gives me a more accurate account of calories burned. For me the camera set up was very easy. I had no problems with the overall function of the camera. Yes there are moments in which it was a little behind, but as long as I was watching the trainer and following the beat it did register my movement as good. If you try to watch yourself then that is when it will be off (due to the fact that you are not on cue with the trainer). My home has a big living space and a big TV in the living area. Good amount of windows and lighting. I made sure to wear black since most of my decor was more neutral colors. I believe the contrast helps with the success of the camera.

The game's exercise format was similar to Yourself Fitness! (My Fitness Coach). The positive was that it included a better cool down than the original. I have to agree that you cannot choose the music like you did with Yourself Fitness. But I liked the music better since there are actual words to them too. There are always room for improvements and addition to any fitness game. But I was very happy and overall impressed with this game compared to a lot of others out there. I had a good workout the first day.

It just needs the right setup

    Reviewer: R. Martinez,
Since I love My Fitness Coach I was really excited about Your Shape, and I pre-ordered it in August. Amazon's price lock feature saved me about $[...]!!!

About the game, I was worried after reading other reviews (I didn't open the game until recently) but I do not regret opening it, I love it.

During setup, I made sure I followed other reviewers recommendations such as using clothes with colors that contrast my environment (this is EXTREMELY important), and I also made sure that the camera sees my whole body, even when I lift my arms or I move around to perform the exercises. So, take your time and position the camera in different ways until you find what's most comfortable for you and allows you to take the most out of your space.

I love the game, the camera recognizes my movements just fine. It's true that it's very similar to My Fitness Coach, but if you like that game, that's exactly why you should get Your Shape; it has all MFC amazing features plus what the camera adds and some other improvements such as detail in areas to work out, what you want to accomplish (burn/strenght, etc.), actual calendar and not just days of the week, etc. I love being able to see myself on the screen, and correct my movements and position and receive feedback like if I had a real coach in front of me. MFC could not do that.

The game is amazing, and I can tell (and feel) that the workouts really work. Other games are easy to trick; this one forces me to do it well and to not stop. I have wii fit and EA Sports Active, too. Your Shape is my favorite. The other ones are fine, but after a while they're boring due to its limited routines, exercises, etc. Your Shape is never boring, the workout is always challenging and different; and once the setup is correct, it's impossible to trick.
Finally, a Fun and Interactive Fitness Game!

Now, I used to classify myself as a fitness junkie. I would eat healthy, go to the gym on a regular basis, and even go running. However, with work, running errands and general "craziness" of life, I did lose sight of this goal a bit. However, I have to hand it to "Your Shape", a game that's really got me excited about becoming fit again!

Let's face it - becoming "too busy" to exercise happens to everyone. What I really like about "Your Shape" is that it customizes your workouts to fit them to your schedule. Some people complained that the encouragements from Jenny McCarthy were unneeded, but I actually found them kind of motivating. I don't have the extra money for a personal trainer right now, which is why I think this game really appeals to me.

I also really like the targeted exercises. Some days when I feel particularly "fat" around the middle, I can do some targeted core training that will help tone and shape my abs. If I'm looking for some relaxing Yoga on a Sunday morning, "Your Shape" can deliver this as well! Overall, I found it verstatile, customizable and pretty much exactly what I'd want out of a fitness game.

I actually read over a lot of the reviews, and saw that a lot of people were complaining that this game was "exactly like (insert fitness game here)". What I found is that Your Shape took all of the BEST features of other fitness games, tied them up in a user-friendly interface, and added a super-sensitive motion camera to boot! As a fitness game, I'd have to say that this is the most successful in appealing to time-constrained people (like me) who need extra motivation to get into shape. I highly recommend this game. :)
Strong enough for a Man, but PH balanced for a Woman!

(one month in review) This might be the only review from a man. Let me tell you other gentlemen something, aerobics are not a joke! Damn they are tough and get your whole body moving. I'm a pretty big guy at 270+, was 280 a month ago and then lost around ten lbs because of Your Shape. I know some of you other reviewers are probably thinking that this game is tailored for women and it is to an extent. But I use heavier weights and I am easily in the best shape of my life in three weeks thanks to this game. I had the Wii fit and it helped my balance big time, I had the EA active and it gave me a good workout in an hour for about 25 minutes worth of real exercise. This game on the other hand beats the hell out of me and I love it! In thirty minutes I am good to go with my increased heart rate, strength training, and cardio.

The first time it was tough for me to get 50%, now I do 75% plus or higher. The lighting and contrast was easily fixed on my behalf and it helped recognize me significantly. The fact that it sometimes doesn't recognize me is because I'm not doing the exercise correct and when I do, it does. Please make sure you follow her moves, not copy or mimic, there is a big difference! It really is that simple; don't let anyone else's review fool you. The other reviewers gave up quickly because unfortunately in today's world it's now, now, now and they want it to be perfect and easy right away. Well, anyone who has really worked out knows it takes perseverance and patience. The longer I work at these the better I get, gee imagine that!

The game is now starting to tailor to the exercises that I am good at and dismissing some of the others that I just plain suck at, which is great. I'm getting buff because it's asking me whether I want to burn or build strength and me being a Macho Man (hah!)of course I want to build strength and have I ever. No joke, I could not do one push up at first, well hell I was 280! Now I can do ten plus without hesitation, I actually had to do some on my knees at first, how freaking sad is that! The fact that I can bench myself now is amazing to me. Fat Man is turning into Macho Man! Seriously, I can see huge differences in my upper body strength and the girlfriend loves it! Ladies you can choose the burn option for less strength building if you're paranoid that you'll look like the incredible hulk, which is BS anyway unless your on steriods.

I could write a book about how great this game is! Now I never had my fitness coach but if I would have known that it compared to this, I would have happily switched from my EA Active. EA as said before was great at first compared to Wii Fit, EA Active actually got me to perspire. Your Shape is significantly dominate to EA Active as I didn't mind the strap and controls but it sure is nice to be free of them. Plus if you want to lose belly fat then just tell the game and it will concentrate on it, plus give you an entire body workout at the same time. It will also cutomize it everyday based on how your feel that day, if you want to work out like a gorillia, it will be happy to oblige or if you feel like crap it will take it easy on you.

To sum it up if you're hesitant because of the other reviews, don't be. If you want a workout that will really get you moving, then go for it. But have patience with yourself and the rewards will be seen shortly. Also be prepared to really workout and move your body or as Jenny says "Doesn't it feel good to really use your body" and YES it does! If you're not ready to go beyond the typical workout and really challenge yourself then don't bother because you will be wasting your money and time. Best workout game hands down and I really feel like it might be the standard for the next few years.

Side notes: I still use my own resistant bands that I purchased separately for EA Active, I just tell the game I have free weights and substitute. Also if you're a guy and thinking about this, go for it and yeah it's designed for women, but I knew this and I just adjusted it for me by flexing when moving my arms and adding heavier weights and other strength building concepts and I am still feeling the burn three weeks later. Don't get it if you're self-conscious of how other people will view you, my guy friends all make fun of me when I tell them I do aerobics with Jenny Macarthy, but I just beat them all in arm wrestling last Saturday night! One guy even asked me about this game afterwards. LOL It reminds me of that deodorant- Strong enough for a Man, but PH balanced for a woman.

This game is a great way to stay home and still be able to workout. This is a great product for stay at home moms, nap time is the perfect time to work that body. I recommend this product for everyone that has a spare 15 minutes.
